FC Dallas Picks Up Costa Rica's Sanchez

FRISCO – FC Dallas has agreed to terms with
Costa Rican international player Alvaro
Sanchez, who will complete the team's 24-man
roster.
Sanchez, 24, comes to FCD on loan from Costa
Rica Primera Division club AD San Carlos.
Sanchez, who has never played Major League
Soccer, will provide depth at forward and
midfielder.

Sanchez can't join the team until he
receives his visa. That process could take
up to two weeks. FCD is expected to
officially announce the addition of Sanchez
next week.
FCD coach Schellas Hyndman said last week he
wanted to add either a forward or defender
to complete the team's roster. FCD had a
28-man roster last season and needed to add
depth up front behind top scorers Kenny
Cooper and Jeff Cunningham.
Sanchez spent the first week of March in
preseason camp with FCD in Curitiba, where
he appeared in two games as a trial player.
He scored a goal on a bending, left-footed
free kick from 20 yards out.
Sanchez has 10 goals and 14 assists in 44
appearances with San Carlos since 2007.
Veteran spry at 32: Forward Jeff Cunningham
played in his first season opener for FC
Dallas on Saturday after being acquired via
trade from Toronto FC last August.
Cunningham, 32, the fourth-leading goal
scorer in MLS history, said he feels better
than ever despite starting his 12th MLS
season on a one-year contract.
"I feel good. I'm doing everything the young
boys are doing, if not more," Cunningham
said. "As long as I continue to score goals,
I'll have a job in this league. I enjoy
Dallas, so hopefully they'll give me another
year or two."
