54 Central American Migrants
Mexico - The Mexican Army rescued a group of
54 Central American migrants that sought to
arrive in the United States national
territory and who stayed kidnapped by
illegal traffickers in a local of Reynosa,
northern state of Tamaulipas.
In accordance with an official statement
Thursday by the General Prosecutor's Office
of the Republic, the dealers demanded their
victims 3,000 dollars per person to liberate
them and facilitate their access to the
state of Texas.
In the operation five traffickers were
captured, the report said, and added that
among the liberated people there were nine
women and a Mexican man.
The rest of the illegal migrants, retained
for 20 days, come from Guatemala, El
Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
In the operation against traffickers, it was
known that the illegal emigrants had been
transferred to Tamaulipas from the states of
Tabasco and Veracruz, in the south, after
demanding them the payment mentioned to be
introduced illegally in US.
Although the Prosecutor Office maintained at
the moment the anonymity on the identity of
the band, the Central American illegal
migrants told the press that all the members
are Mexican.
