- President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said
Friday he will urge U.S. President Barack
Obama to see Latin America in the light of
its development during their upcoming
meeting.
Latin America is a democratic and pacifist
continent and the United States must see it
in the light of its development, not just in
terms of drug trafficking and organized
crime, Lula said.
He said the aim is to build a stronger Latin
America, with the United States as a
partner.
During their March 14 meeting, the two
presidents will also discuss such issues as
the G20 meeting in London on April 2 and
ailing U.S.-Venezuela relations.
