ALBA Event Notes Nicaragua Literacy
Managua - The
Second ALBA-Education Workshop, taking place
in the National Autonomous University of
Nicaragua, is to be closed Friday with the
proclamation of the country''s southern
department of Granada as free of illiteracy.
Delegations from Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador,
Honduras, Nicaragua and Venezuela debated
for three days on how to concrete plans,
programs and specific actions to develop
work guidelines included in the
ALBA-Education Grand National Project.
Honduras' Deputy Education Minister Sandra
Pineda stated Thursday that her country is
aimed to be declared the fifth nations
within the Bolivarian Alliance for the
Peoples of Our America (ALBA) free of that
scourge by 2009.
Sessions recognized the higher education
certificates within the member countries,
once the Venezuelan proposal to develop the
National Community Integrative Medicine
Training Program, supported by Cuba,
started.
The Action Plan "Literacy and Illiteracy
Programs" proposed by the Cuban delegation
chief to this event, Victoria Arencibia, was
also debated. Participants in the forum will
debate aspects of the Action Plan proposal
on Strategies to foster and improve quality,
and present the proposal for the ALBA
University.
Today's agenda will include the Managua
Declaration for ALBA Education Unity,
according to the forum's organizing
committee. |
