Virus Came from Overseas, Guatemala
Guatemala - Health Minister Celso Cerezo said the
A(H1N1) flu virus arrived in Guatemala
through nationals that ignored calls to not
travel overseas.
Cerezo told Siglo Veintiuno daily that the
number of cases spread this week because
people kept flying abroad, especially to the
US and Mexico where they acquired the
illness.
Outbreak was so sudden from June 7 that nine
days later there were 128 new cases, said
Cerezo.
The minister also blames the air lines for
their greed for clients and their trip
promotions, so there is fear that they will
contribute to increasing the number of
cases.
However, the Minister hoped that the number
of cases will not surpass 1,000. |
