AH1N1 Flu Cases Rises To 18 In Nicaragua

Managua - The Nicaraguan Health Ministry said on Friday that the number of the A/H1N1 influenza cases in the country has risen to 18 after six new cases were confirmed.

Nicaraguan Health Minister Guillermo Gonzalez told reporters that most of the patients are children from the western zone of Managua, where the first case was defected in a five-year-old patient.

Gonzalez said that among the 18 confirmed cases, one was detected in the eastern zone of Managua, which was the first one detected outside the infection center.

All the patients are in stable condition, added the minister.

Gonzalez said that since the epidemic alert was decreed in the country, they have checked 9,000 houses seeking for people infected with the A/H1N1 virus, with the aid of 1,200 health staff members.
