Caracas - The Attorney
General's Office
appointed a prosecutor
to investigate attacks
against Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez
supporters in Tachira
state that has wounded
at least seven, reported
the regional press
Friday.
The San Cristobal
newspaper La Nacion, at
497 miles of Caracas
southwestern region,
noted that a great
number of people are
expected to be summoned
for the attack
perpetrated on January 7
during the inauguration
ceremony of opposition
governor Cesar Perez
Vivas.
The Legislative Council
of the state demanded
the Attorney's Office
Friday to open an
investigation against
trade union leader
Alberto Maldonado for
his public and evident
proceedings, leading
armed gangs against the
revolutionary people.
In this respect deputy
Zoraida Parra affirmed
that violence was the
result of a plan
prepared by Maldonado
who was haranguing
opposition groups since
early in the morning.
While commenting the
event Ureña' municipal
Mayor Nelson Becerra
affirmed the invitation
of Perez Vivas to the
inauguration ceremony
was an ambush.
He stressed the
representatives of those
mayoralties went there
to back outgoing
governor Ronald Blanco
in the government
handing over ceremony.
The presence of people
armed with sticks and
belaying pin proves it
was not an initiative of
the moment but an
orchestrated plan and
governor Perez Vivas
agreed with it when he
was the one who invited
in writing.
