Bilingual Job Fair Hailed A Success

The fifth annual Feria Bilugüe - bilingual job fair - was a success according to organizers.

Cinde officials say that 8.750 people visited the three day job fair looking to fill 3.500 jobs offered by international companies operating in Costa Rica.

Gabriela Llober, director of the Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas para el Desarrollo (Cinde), said the fair exceeded expectation and proves the fair is here to stay.

Although visitors were able to talk directly to their prospective employers and submit their resume, some say that they were discriminated against.

A number of people taking to the daily Al Dia said of being discriminated because of the colour of their skin, and even though their "English" was perfect, they did not get the same attention to those with lighter skin.

Many attending the fair were without a job, looking forward to the fair to provide a job opportunity, while others were there shopping around for a new employer.
