Venezuela 2009 Eco-Growth
Positive
Caracas - The Venezuela economy will increase its Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) in 2009 despite world financial difficulties, assured
Economy minister Ali Rodriguez Saturday.
The official also said devaluation of the Bolivar, currently at 2.15
dollars, is not part of the agenda, but could happen.
Rodriguez told Panorama Zurian newspaper that besides the 12 billion
dollars transferred to the National Development Fund, more resources
are expected to go to the international reserves, which closed at
29.776 billion dollars this week.
He did not rule out a possible bond issue for the foreign debt and
estimated that fortunately the high level of currency reserves and
funds available from the National Development Fund reduce
requirements in that area.
If bonds are issued their prices must be evaluated, and in Venezuela
that has to be done very carefully if necessary, he warned
Rodriguez assured despite the world economic depression the country
will have a positive GDP increase and reiterated that Venezuela
enjoys the lowest relation between foreign debt and Gross Domestic
Product estimated in 13.7 percent.
He said steps are being to drop inflation that include increased
national agricultural production. |
