Jacó Joins Independence
Day Celebrations
Monday, Sept 15th Costa
Rica celebrates 187
Years of Independence.
In light of the upcoming
Costa Rican Independence
Day this Monday, Jacó
joins the celebration
with the rest of the
country.
First on Sunday,
September 14th at 8:30am
in the municipality;
there will be an "Acto
Inaugural de Antorcha en
Garabito which is the
lighting of the torch.
Then on Sunday, at 6pm
in front of Banco
Nacional, locals will
sing "El Himno Nacional
de Costa Rica" along
with the children from
various schools from the
Canton of Garabito. They
will also participate in
the "Desfile de Faroles."
On Monday, Jacé will
begin celebrating
Independence Day at
7:00AM with a parade
through the centre of
Jacó that includes the
band from the schools.
Members from the
Federación de Surf will
be included in these
activities to celebrate
Costa Rica securing the
Billabong 2009 World
Surfing Games for next
year. Activities will
continue with
celebrations at the
Multiuso.
