Cuban Awarded CINERGIA
Prize in Costa Rica
Cuban film maker Pavel
Giroud was awarded with
CINERGIA (Fund for the
Promotion of the
Audiovisual in Central
America and the
Caribbean) Prize, for
the film "El acompañante",
in the category of Best
Project Development,
CINERGIA sources
announced Friday.
The President of the
Association of Producing
Companies of US Massimo
Martinotti indicated:
"the only one thing
important was not the
project, but to find out
if the director was able
to make it happen and
how take it to the
screen.
The efficiency of the
novel prizes winner,
shown in previous works,
was one of the key
points for the decision,
he added.
The prize consists in a
financial support of
7,000 dollars given by
CINERGIA and by the
Cinematographic Fund of
the International Cinema
Festival in Goteborg,
Sweden.
Giroud made his debut as
film director with "Tres
veces dos", with Lester
Hamlet and Esteban
Insausti, a full-length
film based on the three
different stories,
Zenith de Plata First
Work winner at Montreal
Festival, Canada in
