Venezuela Unflapped over
Eco-Crisis
CARACAS - The world
financial crisis is an
affair of little concern
for Venezuelans,
economist Jose Sojo,
professor from the
Central University
affirmed on Friday.
Interviewed by
Venezolana de
Television, the
researcher indicated his
country depends neither
on "the seriously
affected US economy,"
nor international
monetary organizations.
There are few
alternatives to face
that problem now, but
initiatives like the
creation of the Bank of
the South are perfect
ways to favor
independence of Latin
American nations, he
said.
The economist sustained
Latin American
integration and unity
are essential for the
countries to remain
unaffected by the
crisis.
According to Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez,
the global financial
crisis is one of the
consequences of
capitalism, whose
malignancy grows like a
cancer.
Addressing the
inauguration of the
International Tourism
Fair yesterday, he noted
Venezuela has firewalls
and barriers against
external economic
irregularities. |
