Marchamo Can Be
Paid
Notwithstanding Unpaid
Fines
Drivers who outstanding
(unpaid) tickets for
violating the vehicular
restrictions of San José
do not have to worry
about not being able pay
the 2009 Marchamo, the
annual vehicle
circulation permit.
Last week the Sala IV or
Constitutional Court
suspend the collection
of all oustanding and
new fines for the
violation while it
resolves a "recurso
amparo" (writ of habeas
corpus) against the
restriction on the
grounds of
constitutionality,
meanwhile traffic
officials continue to
write tickets for the
violation.
The Ministerio de obras
Publicas y Transportes (MOPT)
issued a statement that
the non payment of those
fines will not impede
the purchase of the
Marchamo.
The payment of the
Marchamo includes the
mandatory insurance
payment and all
outstanding fines for
traffic violations, plus
penalties and court
costs. |
