Regulator Investigating
Five Gasoline Stations
With Greedy Pumps
The Autoridad Reguladora
de Servicios Públicos (Aresep)
- regulator of public
prices and services -
said it is investigating
five gasoline stations
for having their pumps
rigged to dispense less
gasoline for the money.
The gasoline stations
under the eye of the
Reguladora are located
in: San Isidro, in Pérez
Zeledón; Gasolinera San
Carlos, in Cañas; Nuevo
Arenal, in San Carlos;
Estación de Servicio
Upala, and ES Costa
Verde, in Tárcoles,
Puntarenas.
The managers of the
Nuevo Arenal and San
Isidro notified that
they have corrected the
problem, claiming a
technical problem with
the pumps, while the ES
Costa Verde manager
claimed that the
machines have to be
constantly calibrated to
avoid the problem.
The Aresep is
responsible to ensure
that every gasoline
station dispenses the
proper amount of
gasoline and places the
responsibility on each
station operator to
daily verify the
calibration of the pumps
and can effectively
nullify the station's
concession following
three proven failures to
comply with the
regulations. |
