Raul Castro Heads Cuba
May Day
Cuban President Raul
Castro headed here today
International Worker's
Day celebrations at the
Revolution Square.
Hundreds of thousands of
people are taking part
in the march in support
of the 1959
Revolutionary
achievements.
The march kicked off at
8:00 a.m. local time,
headed by a
10,000-student bloc from
the University of
Computer Sciences.
In his opening speech,
Cuban Workers
Confederation
secretary-general
Salvador Valdes called
on workers to ratify
their will to continue
walking the path towards
a fair, more humane and
efficient Socialism, as
Revolution leader Fidel
Castro has indicated.
The May Day celebration
at the Revolution Square
is being attended by
1,460 foreign guests
from 62 countries. |
