Protti live on national
television 25 years with
the arrival of Pope John
Paul II in Costa Rica.
Protti, known as the
"bambino", was assistant
press secretary to the
Partido Liberación
Nacional (PLN) 25 years
ago when, he says was
overcome by such
unexplainable emotion
seeing the man that
radiated peace and love.
What Protti had mean to
say was that John Paul
II (Juan Pablo II) was
the first "non Italian"
Pope but his nerves got
the better of him.
The arrival of Pope John
Paul II was covered on
national television
channel 13 as the
television stations of
the day pooled their
resources for one
"historic" transmission.
Protti says he still
being ribbed about it
today.
