Landslide Kills At Least
7 in Colombia's Medellin
At least seven people,
including a child, were
killed in a landslide in
Colombia triggered by
days of heavy rains,
authorities said
Saturday.
About 16 others were
injured and another 13
people were still
missing after a
landslide crushed houses
in the northwestern city
of Medellin, some 450 km
northwest of the
country's capital, civil
defense officials said.
Rescue workers have
arrived to search for
survivors through mud
and wrecked houses. More
casualties are expected
as local residents were
asleep when the
landslide happened.
Flooding and landslides
triggered by heavy rains
have left at least 16
dead and over 100,000
displaced across
Colombia since the rainy
season began in
mid-April.
