International Strategy
Seminar
Cuban and Venezuelan
former internationalist
fighters and scholars
are attending a
traveling seminar on
struggles for freedom in
Africa, Asia and Latin
America.
The meeting, running
until July 30, will tour
several cities to
discuss ALBA (Bolivarian
Alternative for the
Americas), the African
peoples' resistance and
the Cuban Revolution,
among other aspects.
The international
traveling seminars,
attended by notables
from Latin America,
Africa and Asia, have
been held since 2007, in
line with agreements
signed between the Latin
American Parliament and
Cuban institutions.
The purpose is to
develop solidarity links
among peoples of the
three continents "to
spread liberating,
pro-integration ideas
leading to the greatest
unity of our peoples in
favor of the Larger
Homeland."
The Cuban delegation
includes retired Brig.
Gen. Harry Villegas
"Pombo" and retired Col.
Roberto Marquez, who
accompanied Ernesto Che
Guevara in the Cuban
revolutionary struggle,
the guerrilla in
Bolivia, and the African
independence struggle.
The gathering will be in
session in the states of
Anzoategui, Barinas,
Cojedes, Vargas and the
city of Caracas, with
subjects including "Che
Guevara's
Three-Continental
Renown: from Sierra
Maestra to Africa and
Bolivia in
Anti-imperialist
Struggle against
Military Dictatorships."
