Latin American Lawmakers
for Free Cuban Five
Latin American and
Caribbean members of
Congress will meet in
Panama on July 7-8 to
discuss the release of
the five Cuban
antiterrorists jailed in
the US.
National Assembly
Chairman Pedro Miguel
Gonzalez, from the
government Partido
Revolucionario
Democratico (PRD), says
the meeting opens Monday
morning.
Among the guest are
Cuban Parliament
Chairman Ricardo
Alarcon, and
counterparts Rene Nunez
(Nicaragua) and
Aristides Crespo
(Guatemala).
The main topic of the
event are actions to
free the five Cuban
anti-terrorists
imprisoned in the US and
fair treatment to their
relatives.
There is also solidarity
with Cuba and promotion
and defense of its
achievements on the 50th
anniversary of the
triumph of its
Revolution.
Cuban Antiterrorists
Antonio Guerrero,
Fernando Gonzalez,
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon
Labanino and Rene
Gonzalez were arrested
on September 12, 1998 in
the US and imposed
unfair prison terms that
include double life
sentences.
