Cuba, Nicaragua Sign
Trade Agreement
The Chamber of Commerce
of Cuba (CCC) and the
Chamber of Industry of
Nicaragua (CADIN) signed
an agreement in this
capital to boost
bilateral trade.
The document was penned
at the end of the
opening session of a
bilateral meeting,
attended by a Nicaraguan
entrepreneurial
delegation and witnessed
by Nicaraguan Ambassador
Luis Cabrera.
The Nicaraguan
delegation is headed by
Humberto Arguello
Chamorro, technical
secretary of the
National Commission for
Export Promotion, which
is attached to the
Ministry of Development,
Industry and Trade.
By virtue of the
agreement, the two
countries will exchange
publications, both
printed and on digital
support, published by
the two institutions, as
well as information on
commercial and
investment prospects.
They will also boost all
forms of trade,
including nontraditional
forms, like cooperated
productions,
international economic
associations, etc.
The two parties will
also exchange
information about
international fairs and
exhibitions held in Cuba
and Nicaragua, and will
facilitate participation
by their companies and
institutions.
Arguello Chamorro noted
that this mission is a
major step to speed up
the reactivation of
bilateral trade
relations, which have a
great potential.
He added that relations
would benefit from the
possibilities provided
by the Bolivarian
Alternative for the
Americas (ALBA), of
which the two countries
are members.
For her part, CCC
International Relations
Director Patricia Ponte
Sanz pointed out that
the meeting will
contribute to resuming
previous relations and
developing bilateral
trade.
In the light of the two
countries' current
conditions, the
possibilities to
diversify trade, which
has focused on a small
group of products over
the past few years, will
be analyzed, she added.
Cuba has exported
medicines, and iron and
steel products to
Nicaragua, and has
imported plastic pipes
and construction
materials from that
Central American
country. |
