Problems With Cellular
Phones Tomorrow
Tomorrow (Sunday) users
of cellular telephone
may experience more
problems than usual
between midnight and
6:30am, as the Instituto
Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) works
on preparations for the
switch to eight digits
that will go into effect
next month.
Come midnight March 20,
all telephones numbers
in Costa Rica will be
eight digits, with the
addition of a "2" to all
fixed line telephone
numbers and an "8" to
all cellular numbers.
For example, the fixed
line number 231-3205
will become 2231-3205
and cellular number
399-9642 will become
8399-9642.
