Tourism in Venezuela Grows
Caracas - Venezuela Tourism Ministry Olga Cecilia Azuaje on Tuesday highlighted the logistic and structural progress of that sector in 2008, with a record 6.2 percent growth compared to 2007.

Venezuelans must thank the huge natural resources our country possess, and also the positive managements made by the government in this area, the official stressed.

Azuaje commented the tourist sector cashed 5.58 billion dollars during 2008 in resources and moved around 42 million tourists.

As compared to 2007, we increased the quality of our services and infrastructures, and we continue working in the creation of new legal standards to support the development of the so-called leisure industry, she indicated.

According to the official, 18,376 Venezuelans have benefitted from the social tourism plan, aimed at giving poor people the opportunity to travel to countries like Cuba and Dominia at government´s expenses.
