Bye to Power Cuts in
Nicaragua
Managua -
Nicaragua's power
supplier ENEL announced
that installed
capacities currently
prevent power cuts like
those affecting the
country in the past.
In a TV broadcast
address on Channel 4
Muntinoticias, Executive
President of ENEL,
engineer Salvador
Mansell, explained the
government program under
which capacities were
installed in less than
16 months, something
that liberal government
failed to achieve in 16
years.
In 16 months 120
megawatts were placed in
the country's energy
market, compared to 160
megawatts created by
liberal governments in
16 years.
He referred to
installation of the Hugo
Chavez and Ernesto Che
Guevara plants, thanks
to Venezuelan and Cuban
solidarity, as part of
the Bolivarian
Alternative for the
Americas (ALBA).
This Sandinista
government effort brings
power capacities to the
Atlantic area, the
so-called mining
triangle, the Bluff and
other areas to benefit
the people and regional
economic development.
An additional 40
megawatts are expected
to be added to the
national power system,
he announced.
