Highway to Escazú Closed This
Weekend
The autopista Próspero
Fernández (Santa Ana -
San José) will be
completely closed from
10pm Saturday night to
2pm on Sunday. The
closure will between San
José and Escazú to allow
crews to work on the
widening of the bridge
over the Tiribi river.
MOPT minister, Karla
González, said the work
on the 90 metre bridge
is part of the expansion
work of the highway that
will be six lanes from
the current four.
The minister said the
vibration caused by
passing traffic does not
allow work crews to
complete a part of the
required work and the
reason for the shutdown
of all vehicular
traffic.
For those going to and
from Escazú and points
west, it is best to take
the old Escazú route
that runs south of the
Próspero Fernández
through La Sabana and
Los Anonos and the get
back on the autopista by
Hipermas.
The section of the
Próspero Fernández
between the Gimnacio
Nacional and the west
end of the Sabana park
will be closed beginning
Friday night to allow
for the preparation and
parking of floats for
Saturday night's
Festival de la Luz.
