Solidarity with Cuba
Cusco, Peru - Cusco
hosts a weekend of
solidarity with Cuba and
an homage to the Cuban
medical brigade that
performs free eye
surgery through
Operation Miracle
program.
The slogan Thanks Cuba
led the folkloric parade
staged by the House of
Friendship with Cuba and
popular artists near
downtown Cusco, to
complete the
celebrations for the
visit by Cuban
Ambassador to Peru Luis
Delfin Perez.
The Cuban diplomat was
welcomed by San Vicente
Municipality Mayor Jorge
Acurio and visited the
Cuban doctors and the
future seat of Operation
Miracle under an
official bilateral
accord.
Ambassador Perez gave a
conference on
globalization, the
current international
situation and trends to
staff and students at
state-run San Antonio
Abad University.
Perez was declared
honorary member of the
regional Pharmaceutical
School in ceremony where
the institution thanked
Operation Miracle in
Cusco and signed a
letter of intent to run
exchange with Cuban
counterparts.
The ambassador also held
talks with members of
the Houses of Friendship
with Cuba on plans for
2009 when Custo will
house the 10th National
Meeting of Solidarity
with Cuba and the Cuban
Revolution reaches its
50th anniversary. |
