Venezuela: Oil Prospecting Heads West
CARACAS - Venezuela says it will start prospecting late in September in west Venezuela, including Tachira that pioneered national oil era over 100 years ago.

Eulogio del Pino, vice president of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), said they will start in Junin municipality, seat of Eureka-1 well, Venezuela's first oil producer.

Deep off-shore exploration and mapping at sights hosting newly found heavy, medium and light oil and gas will be made in Tachira, Barinas, Guarico and Apure that has yielded over 60 billion barrels of top-quality light oil along 24 years.

Daily national oil out put rounds 3.3 million barrels with plans to reach by year’s end 3.4 million withan investment plan to reach four million by 2010 and 5.8 million by 2021.

Investments for 2020 may round $240 billion with 70 percent for PDVSA and the other 30 per cent for private share holders.

Ongoing certification in Faja del Orinoco must rank Venezuela as top world oil producer with reserves rounding 3.3 billion barrels.
