MEXICO - Results to
prevent HIV/AIDS in Cuba

Deputy Health Minister
Luis Strucht stated in
this capital.
In statements to Prensa
Latina, Strucht referred
to the participants'
interest in the Cuban
experience as for
education and preventing
HIV analyzed in the 17th
International Conference
on this issue taking
place in Mexico.
Thousands of teachers,
physicians and nurses
belonging to the health
system are directly
involved to fight AIDS,
due to the organization
into a hierarchy
existing on this topic
in the society, the also
expert on hygiene and
epidemiology said.
He noted that the
incidence of the disease
in young people between
15 and 24 years old has
decreased as of people's
grade of conscience in
the practice of
protected sex.
Cuba has currently 8,200
HIV patients, 80 percent
are men, and 85 percent
of them got infected
having relations with
other men.
So far, 1,800 people
have died in the island
as a consequence of
AIDS, Strucht stated. |
