Chavez: 21st Century,
Socialism in Venezuela
CARCAS -The dynamic
process of changes led
by Venezuela's President
Hugo Chavez since 1999
is directing Sunday a
strengthening stage the
statesman makes out as
the beginning towards
socialism.
The new period,
according to Chavez,
starts with the November
23 electoral triumph,
when over 600 posts of
governors, majors and
regional legislators
will be at stake.
In an act of
presentation of
candidates from the
United Socialist Party
of Venezuela (PSUV) for
the Bolivar and Delta
Amacuro states, the
statesman requested
Saturday his followers
to be ready to advance
precise, planned and
intensively towards
socialism.
Chavez noted that when a
constitutional reform
was rejected in
referendum last
December, "we were not
ready to do it in that
magnitude."
However, the Venezuelan
population is already
ready so when new
regional authorities
assume their posts next
December, the country
can open the new
2008-2021 revolution
period and start 2009 at
a revolutionary gallop.
"Socialism is the only
way to have Homeland,
not only for Venezuela,
but also for the world,"
said the president, who
asserted the 21st
century will be the
Venezuelan socialism.
Chavez called to
pulverize the opposition
in the next elections
with a united work in
the Patriotic Alliance
made up of the PSUV and
the Communist Party,
Fatherland for All Party
and the People's
Electoral Movement.
