Economy Slows Down
The rate of growth of the economy of Costa Rica has continued slowing down, according to the Banco Central de Costa Rica (Central Bank).

In July, the Monthly Index of Economic Activity increased 7.1 percent.

This was the seventh month in a row that the Index decreased at a slower rate than in January, when it went 8.5 up.

According to economist Alberto Franco, the de-acceleration of economic activities is influenced by a lower growth of world economy, particularly that of the United States.

Exports from free zones showed the slowest rates of growth –from 7.60 to 5.67 percent–, while construction kept on shooting up, from 19.17 to 19.95 percent.
