Rains Back to Normal,
Sun Shines on San José
While the Government and
the Comisión Nacional de
Emergencias (CNE) -
national emergency
commission -
struggle to address the
most pressing needs of
thousands of Costa
Ricans affected by
floods that destroyed
their homes, and to
re-open damaged roads,
among other tasks, the
weather has gone back to
normal for this time of
the year, meaning
basically sunny mornings
and wet afternoons in
most of Costa Rica.
In San José, the rain
has stayed away for two
days, bringing sunshine
and hot weather typical
of the summer season
which begins by
mid-November.
To help out the victims
of flooding in the past
weeks, the government of
China is donating us$20
million dollars that
will also be used for
the re-construction of
damaged infrastructure.
By the same token, the
United States government
has donated us$50.000
dollars to help the
flood victims in
Guanacaste. The US funds
will be destined for
personal care items and
fuel.
