Oppose EU and Costa Rica
Negotiations
Negotiations between the
Central Americas and the
European Union have
already begun where the
hot topic under
discussion is that of a
trying to reduce the
import and export
tariffs in the EU.
However this hasn’t gone
unnoticed without its
opposition.
Representatives of
Central American
agricultural groups
highly opposed to the
free-trade elements of
the association during a
meeting at a Legislative
Assembly conference room
hosted by the Citizen
Action Party.
First round negotiations
commenced on Monday, and
Central American Foreign
Ministers announced that
negotiations were going
smoothly and agreements
had been reached on
political and
cooperation topics that
would be further
discussed in the
following 3 rounds in
December, February and
April.
According to spokesmen
from some of the
agricultural groups,
this is very bad news
and will try to start
venting their feelings
more publicly to the
government.
Negotiations will last
until the end of week,
and further
announcements of
negotiated developments
will be made this week
with one expected to be
of financial cooperation
for the next 10 years.
