Solís Confident of a
"No" Victory Today
The leader of the
Partido Acción Cuidadana
(PAC), Ottón Solís, is
totally confindent of a
"No" win int today's
referendum vote on the
Tratado de Libre
Comercio (TLC).
"I did not have any luck
with my team (his soccer
team losing yesterday's
match), victory will be
tomorrow (today)", said
Solís.
Solís is confident of a
strong "No" victory
today, saying that the
world is waiting to
applaud Costa Rica for
its decision.
Solís lost the
presidential campaign
last year to Oscar Arias
by a close margin and
has made it clear that
he is not against the
trade deal per se, just
that it needs to be
renegotiated as the
current terms do not
favour Costa Rica.
The PAC leader added
that today's victory
will not be for any one
political party or
leader of the PAC, it
will be a victory for
the people.
Early yesterday morning
Solís met with the
Secretary General of the
Organization of American
States (OAS), José
Miguel Insulza, at the
Hotel San José Palacio,
in a meeting that lasted
more than an hour and
was also attended by PAC
former legislator, Epsy
Campbell.
Following the meeting,
Solís left for his farm
and then made his way to
his home town of Perez
Zeledón, where he and
his wife will be voting
in today's historic
vote. |
