Populares de San José
took in yesterday ¢211.1
million colones
(us$409.000 dollars) in
concession fees for 55
booths for the annual "Zapote
Fair" that begins on
December 25 and runs to
January 6, 2008.
The Zapote Fair was
cancelled last year due
to health and safety
concerns, especially
over the "redondel" or
makeshift bull ring,
that is a traditional
part of the fair.
However, last week
permission was granted
to erect a permanent
redondel with a capacity
for 4.200 people and the
Zapote Fair is a go
again.
The biggest payer at the
concession auction was
Marco Tulio Alfaro
Araya, a high level
executive with the
Cervecería Costa Rica,
who under the mane
Inmovigi paid ¢111
million colones for the
bar concessions.
Others paid up to ¢6.2
million colones for the
right to have a booth at
the two week fair that
will 11 include food,
drinks, games and the
megabars by Inmovigi.
The Zapote Fair in San
José is the largest and
most attended event
during the Fair season
that runs to March.
Other famous and well
attended fairs include
the Palmares and the
Puntarenas fairs. |
