Telesur Accuses
Collaborator Chase in
Colombia
Telesur denounced the
harassment against its
collaborator in Colombia
William Parra, on the
occasion of an interview
to an imprisoned officer
in that country, which
will be broadcast as of
Sunday.
A release by the
multi-national channel
indicates that those
pressures join those
used against Freddy
Munoz and Hollman
Morris, two Telesur
journalists in that
neighboring nation.
According to the text,
Colombia leads the lists
of countries with larger
quantity of journalists
murdered in the world
and difficulties to
exercise that trade in
Latin America.
Telesur rejects
particularly statements
by Colombian Police
director Gen. Oscar
Naranjo, on the alleged
manipulation of the
interview carried out
one and a half month ago
by Parra to Captain
Guillermo Solorzano, in
power of the guerrilla.
The note states that the
journalist was requested
a report two months ago
on negotiations for a
humanitarian accord to
exchange prisoners and
emerged the opportunity
of the interview to the
military "from his place
of captivity."
The international
channel held the
Colombian police force
head responsible for the
risk faced by the
journalist due to
statements that question
