Bolivian president announces "open agenda" with
governors
Bolivian President Evo Morales said Sunday there
would be "an open agenda" when he meets the nine
regional governors next Saturday in the central
Bolivian city of Cochabamba.
According to reports from La Paz, Morales
accepted a request from the nine governors to
discuss issues on unconstitutionality and the
Constitutional Tribunal.
The president said he was pleased with the
officials' appeal for the meeting as there was
an alleged break in relations between regional
governors and the central government.
He said the central government and regional
governments were able to work together in 2006,
when heavy rains triggered a catastrophe in
several regions.
Morales said he would propose a new
administrative infrastructure in the prefectures
to dispel citizens' fears about the use of
financial resources.
At the upcoming meeting, Morales is expected to
work with the governors to appoint new directors
for the health and education services.
