Weatherman Says Rainy Season Is
Here Early
Good news and bad news. The
Instituto Meteorológico Nacional
(IMN) - the weatherman - is
predicting that the transition
towards the rainy season is
fully underway and that the the
coming week will be filled with
rain, especially in the
afternoons that will be filled
with thunderstorms and heavy
downpours.
The good news is that all the
rain will continue to fill the
hydro-electric plant reservoirs
and maintain them at adequate
levels so as to not have any
more electrical power blackouts.
The bad news is, well, it will
be wet.
Last week, the IMN had predicted
that the "rainy" or "winter"
season would commence the first
weekend of May (this weekend)
and not in the second and third
weekends which has been the
norm.
Meteorologist, Rosario Alfaro,
the rain will be normal for the
season, save for the Guanacaste
and Pacific North region where
the rain will be isolated.
The Guanacaste will have clearer
skies than the rest of the
country during the coming weeks,
as the transition completes,
with temperatures ranging from
23C to 34C.
Meanwhile the rest of the
country, mainly the Central and
South Pacific and Central Valley
will see more cloud cover.
