Bolivia Ready for CAN Summit
Authorities from this southern Bolivian city stated that the venue of the Summit of the Andean Community of Nations is ready to welcome delegations participants June 12-14.

Tarija mayor Oscar Montes says the city has been restored, street lighting has been improved, and work has been done in the Oriel Lea Plaza International Airport.

Department police Chief Carlos Sigler said that over 800 soldiers will be deployed to guarantee the arrival and stay of presidents.

The Bolivian Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed Sunday the presence in Tarija of Ecuador s President Rafael Correa and Chile s Michelle Bachelet.

Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca also stated that his government will advocate in this forum for a more integral CAN, to surpass mere trade accords and strengthen social projects.

Questioned by Prensa Latina on different visions within the CAN in his links with third countries, Choquehuanca confirmed the rejection to the neoliberal format of the Free Trade Agreement boosted by the US and European Union in the region.

According to Choquehuanca, Morales leadership heading the CAN has marked a new stage of inter-relating among member nations, and also with associated countries like Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay Argentina and Chile, and observers like Mexico, Panama and Venezuela.
