Guatemalans Returned from US
The UN International Organization for
Migration reported it has assisted more than
7,100 irregular immigrants, who have been
returned to Guatemala by the United States.
IOM s attentions are supported by a cooperation
agreement signed with the Guatemalan government
this year.
With that authorization, IOM officials receive
immigrants when they arrive at the airport and
transfer them to their places of origin.
In joint collaboration with the Ministry of
Labor and Social Security, IOM has created a
data base on those returned, to learn their
preparation and offer them job opportunities.
In a press note, the UN organization announced
it will also be in contact with universities, to
assist professionals in finding employment and
to support those who wish to continue their
education.
