Unbelievable, but true.
The unusual surprised
many drivers crossing
the peak known as Cerro
de la Muerte betweem
kilometre 88 and 93 on
the Interamerican Sur
that connects San José
with the southern zone.
A light white powdery
coating covered the side
of the road.
For many this was the
first they have come in
contact with snow.
The Cerro de la Muerte
(Death's Peak) is one
the highest point on the
InterAmerican highway at
an altitude of 3.505
(11.500 feet) above sea
level.
The peak is slightly
lower than the highest
point in Costa Rica, the
Cerro Chirripó, where on
a clear day you can see
the Pacific Ocean and
the Caribbean sea
simultaneously.
At 3,820 metres (12,532
feet), the Chirripó is
the 38th most prominent
peak in the world. |
