to the Jose Marti and
Latin American Unity
Forum in the Panamanian
capital on Thursday.
The neoliberal system
prevailing in the world,
its negative effects,
and an alternative to
that model center
debates by regional
academics, experts, and
professors attending the
event.
Other topics already
analyzed were social
movements and migrations
in the US, ideological
struggles and mass
media.
When speaking at the
forum, Atilio Boron,
professor of Buenos
Aires University,
criticized the
"unprecedented social
holocaust humanity is
facing."
The specialist said the
writing off of the Latin
American foreign debt,
regional agrarian and
tax reforms and more
equitable policies are
some of the several
measures that must be
adopted in Latin
America.
In the meantime,
Panamanian professor
Juan Jovane slammed free
trade agreements between
regional countries and
the US, and stressed
they will mean the end
of national industry and
