UN Delegation Assesses Salvador
Troops
The United Nations is evaluating
Salvadoran troops Tuesday, to
certify their future
participation in UN
peace-keeping missions,
according to El Salvador Defense
Minister Otto Romero.
Romero explained that the visit
of a UN committee to this nation
will enable incorporation of
national forces into blue helmet
contingents in coming
pacification operations.
He said that Salvadoran officers
are currently participating as
observers in missions of the
international body, which
delegation toured the Armed
Forces Command of Engineers and
verified the state of the
military equipment.
