Legislators Back To Work Today
Legislators are back at work today following a 17 day Christmas and New Years holiday break.

Ahead of them as the Legislative session continues is the "Ley de fortalecimiento financiero del Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social (IMAS)", a strenghtening of the law that affects social assistance and the election of a magistrate to the Sala Tercera.

Carlos Gutiérrez, of the Movimiento Libertario, says that this week the possibility exists that legislators will begin discussion of the Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) - the free trade agreement with the United States, an initiative that is expected to garner differing reactions from social, ecomonic and political sectors.

Mayi Antillón, head of the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) party, yesterday was confident that the TLC will begin to be discussed as the two other pending matters will be resolved quickly.

Antillón added that a new magistrate will be announced possibly today, in the first day back to work, following the rumours that current Fiscal General, Francisco Dall’ Anese, will be withdrawing his name from the contest.
