Growing Violence Alarming
The situation of insecurity is

oasis of peace in a violent
region.
The Spanish daily La Nación
daily published a number
of experiences and opinions by
its readers Wednesday with an
extensive list of comments
questioning the Poder
Ejecutivo's (executive branch of
power - the government) present
crime policy.
Leaders who do not appropriately
care about the security of their
citizens must quit, a Costa
Rican wrote angrily in the open
forum of the newspaper.
If this is the way to welcome
our visitors, then soon we will
say goodbye to tourism, another
correspondent stated.
A third held the authorities
responsible for the prevailing
violent atmosphere and regretted
that Costa Rican citizens pay
the highest taxes in the Latin
American world despite living in
a "paradise" for impunity, drugs
and all kinds of illegal trade.
