Zeta and Tropigás Lose
License

Públicos (ARESEP)
revoked the license
concessions to sell and
store liquid gas Gas
Nacional Zeta and
Tropigás, following a
complaint by competitor
Petrogás over the
exchange of gas
cylinders.
The complaint by
Petrogás made to the
ARESEP says the the Zeta
and Tropigás would not
refill empty cylinders
belonging to the
competition.
The ARESEP decision was
published in the
official government
publication, La Gaceta,
and takes effect in
three months time.
Zeta and Tropigás
control 70% of the
liquid gas market.
The Ministerio del
Ambiente y Energía (Minae)
believes that it will
take three months for
the companies to empty
their tanks and required
to reorganized the
concessions system,
which would have clear
regulations and uniform
standards for the
market, accorind to
Carolina Mora, a
spokesperson for the
ARESEP.
So far only Tropigás has
said it will appeal the
decision. Company
executives say they were
dumbfounded by the
ARESEP decision and that
the whole thing is a
misunderstanding.
"Tropigás is a victim of
use of its cylinders by
the competition, it is a
mistake and a bad
appreciation by the
ARESEP", said Alejandro
Bettoni, representing
Tropigás. |
