US Unions Called to
Stand with Cuba
At the conclusion of a
Labor Conference in
Tijuana, trade union and
social organizations
from Canada, Cuba,
Mexico, the United
States and Venezuela
urged US unions to
express solidarity with
the Island and reject
the US blockade of that
country.
The participants
particularly urged
leaders and workers of
the AFL-CIO (American
Federation of Labor,
Congress of Industrial
Organizations) and the
International Labor
Confederation of Canada
to adopt that position.
The resolution demands
an end to the defamation
campaign against the
Cuban Workers Union,
which the International
Workers Confederation is
carrying on to support
US anti-Cuban policy.
The conference
participants also demand
that the ban be lifted
so US citizens may
travel to Cuba, and
called for US unions to
demand the release of
the Five Cuban
antiterrorists
imprisoned in the United
States.
During the event,
Mexicans Elvira Arellano
and Enma Lozano
denounced US outrages
immigrants. |
