Ortega Knocks US
Security Plan
Nicaraguan President
Daniel Ortega affirmed
Thursday that the
security plan the US is
trying to establish in
the world, following its
invasion of Iraq, is
illegal and erratic.
ó That scheme actually
complicates the world
situation, because it is
based on lies, ó Ortega
sustained when closing
the graduation ceremony
of a course on security
and defense of the
Nicaraguan army.
The Sandinista leader
recalled that to attack
Iraq, Washington alleged
the existence of
chemical arms in that
country, which was a
pretext to control Iraqi
oil.
Now they want to take
control of the Iranian
oil, and allege Iran
wants to produce atomic
arms and that, Ortega
warned, demonstrates how
risky the US security
policy is for the
peoples.
The Nicaraguan leader
also urged the US
government to invest
more in the anti-drug
trafficking fight in
Central America, which
serves as passageway for
drugs taken from South
America to the US, the
world's largest drug
consuming market. |
