Fenosa to increase power
rationing in Nicaragua
after deficit increase
Union Fenosa SA will
increase power rationing
in Nicaragua from the
current four hours to
five hours a day, due to
generation problems and
maintenance issues at
various plants in the
country.
The decision to increase
power rationing comes
after the power deficit
rose from 80 to 100
megawatts on Monday and
is backed by the
Nicaraguan government.
Electricity rationing
will be raised by one
hour until Fenosa's
power plants
re-establish capacity, a
spokesman from the
company said.
Union Fenosa and the
Nicargauan government
resolved a disagreement
at the beginning of July
after the Spanish
utility faced potential
suspension of its
concessions in the
Central American country
for not fulfilling
contractual obligations
after severe power
shortages hit the
country in April. |
