Panama to Host Latin
American Forum
Panama was elected the
venue of the Ministerial
Forum of Latin American
Pacific Basin, to be
held in the first half
of 2008, as recognition
of its privileged role
as link to the Asian
market.
The Panamanian Foreign
Ministry emphasized that
the country was
unanimously elected by
the ministers attending
the 2nd Forum meeting
held in Lima, Peru.
Panama was represented
by Foreign Affairs
Minister Samuel Lewis
who appreciated its
nomination, which
recognizes the important
role of Panama in the
world market.
The 11-neighbouring
countries of the Latin
American Pacific are
trying to make better
use of their
international capacity
for competition and
coordinate actions with
the Asian nations, which
hold booming economies
worldwide, emphasized
the Foreign Ministry.
"We agreed to coordinate
projects for those
markets that will
benefit Panamanian
investments, jobs and
reduce poverty" added
Lewis.
