Racsa's Problems Affected 650.000 Internet Customers
Some 650.000 internet users were affected yesterday when the Radiográfica Costarricense S. A. (Racsa) experienced a mechanical problem.

Mario Zaragoza, a spokesperson for Racsa, said that the problems began on Sunday and escalated by yesterday as technicians were working on adjustment to better service.

The problem became serious yesterday morning when the network experienced constant break in service.

"The service is not totally down, but is not continuous. There is a connection for 10 minutes and then lost for half hour then back again", explained Zaragoza.

In addition to losing service completely, customers complained that the connection was slower than usual.

Racsa technicians assured that all the problems were resolved by late afternoon, though work on the network will continue into today.

The service interruption did not affect the internet service offered by Racsa's parent company, the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) nor customers who connect to Racsa by cable modem.
