Nicaragua-Iran Relations Strengthened
Nicaragua and Iran reaffirmed their will of strengthening bilateral relations with the three-day visit of Iran´s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to this Central American nation.

The Iranian diplomat arrived in Managua on Friday, as part of his tour of Central America, and was welcomed by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

During the meeting, which was broadcast live by various radio stations, Ortega and Mottaki expressed their will to fulfill the bilateral cooperation agreements, which include the agro-industry, mining, and energy sectors, signed on January 14.

Those agreements were signed by Ortega and his Iranian counterpart, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, who visited Managua few days after the Sandinist leader assumed the presidency of his country.

We count with the will and determination of both countries´ authorities for strengthening links and relations between our peoples, said Mottaki during his meeting with Ortega.

It was announced that embassies will be opened in Teheran and Managua as a result of the goodwill of strengthening bilateral links.

The Iranian Foreign minister also said that his country is interested in importing meat, dairy products, and corn from the Central American country.

Ortega and Mottaki also expressed their governments´ will to fight terrorism, and reiterated the right of all nations to develop a peaceful energy program.
